Re-licensing
In Mutexer, agents are bound to devices that are metered against your payment plan. As such, the same agent cannot be run on multiple devices at the same time.
To ensure the same agent is not running in more than one location, each agent will take a Machine ID of the device it's first installed onto. Every time the agent authentiated to the Mutexer Cloud, this Machine ID will be be expected to remain the same.
How is the Machine ID formed?
A proprietary algorithm is used to create the Machine ID, and it is seeded with various inputs sourced from the device's hardware.
As a result of this, extensive hardware changes to your device may occasionally cause the Error code MTX-E10001
to appear in the agent logs.
If this occurs, users can log in to the Mutexer Platform, find the device, and re-license the agent. This clears the Machine ID, allowing it to be set again upon next agent execution.
How to re-license an agent
- Login to the Mutexer Platform
- Find the Device where the agent is running in the device tree view
- Open up the "Configuration" node
- Double-click on the "Agent" node
- On the screen that appears, click "Re-license"
Limitations and Consequences
There is no limit to how many times you can re-license an agent, although agents must be restarted for it to take effect.
Re-licensing will not stop or interrupt any running programs or deployments.
