About Devices

Devices are machines that are characterised by having an Agent installed.

There are two types of devices.

• Physical Devices
• Virtual Machines

In terms of CloudLink they have the exact same functionality and there is no distinction made.

Device vs Peer

There are several major benefits of using Agents instead of Peers when connecting to CloudLink.

• Automatic Creation: Devices upon creation are automatically added to CloudLink.
• Automatic Updates: All network changes will automatically propagate.
• Install Relays: Only Agents can have Relays installed.

Agents are only supported on Linux. For Windows and MacOS the only option is Peers. Further information on Agent compatibility can be found in Agent System Requirements.
