Peer Limitations
This sections outlines important limitations on Peers when part of CloudLink network.
Limitation of Wireguard Peers
Wireguard peers require the installation of the default Wireguard client software on the host machine. This software is standalone and not managed by CloudLink.
Therefore, there are two limitations.
- Manual Updates: Network changes must be manually updated to the Wireguard Client.
- No Relays: Relays are not able to be installed on Wireguard Peers.
INFO
Manual updates means re-downloading the configuration file from CloudLink and re-uploading it to the Wireguard client software.
Limitation of Other Peers
No Routing Ability: Since relays do not have routing information as they have no software installed they cannot reach any network address outside its local network when it's acting as the connection initiator.
The practical outcome of this is that Devices or Wireguard Peers can reach Other Peers when they initiated the connection but Other Peers cannot reach Devices or Wireguard Peers.
Therefore, in all instances connections must be established from Devices or Wireguard Peers to Other Peers.
