About Peers
Peers are machines that have access to the CloudLink network but do not have an agent installed.
There are two types.
- Wireguard Peers: Active member of the network via Wireguard client software.
- Other Peers: Passive member of the network accessed via network Relay.
Wireguard Peers
Systems that have a valid network configuration but use Wireguard client software instead of a Agent to achieve connectivity.
Typically, a Wireguard Peer would be used in the event that an Agent cannot be installed on the machine.
Wireguard Peers have full access to the network.
INFO
Agents are only supported on Linux. For Windows and MacOS the only option is Peers. Further information on Agent compatibility can be found in Agent System Requirements.
Other Peers
If a system cannot have an Agent or Wireguard client installed it can still be added as a named member of the network by being added as a "Other Peer".
These types of machines are added to the network by being exposed by Relays. Since Relays expose a local network of a Device it allows these types of machines become reachable. Adding it as a "Other Peer" provides a convenient way to interact with the machine.
However, since it does not have installed software it is a passive member of the network and thus has limitations.
